Baby does the day feel long...

Went to see the lovely Devon Sproule last night for her CD release party at Jammin Java. She was wonderful and didn't let down.

Dreaming of the DR...

So, we leave for the Dominican Republic in 20 days and we just can't wait. The benefit dinner is this Friday and there is a lot of work to be done still, but after that there are no more fundraisers and we can enjoy the anticipation of seeing all the kids again!

Ray Lamontagne: Trouble

This song is so beautiful

Enjoying the work of...

"My work now is to sink deep into all of the joy, the blessings and the good fortune. It is so easy for me to be wary of it, and put myself on high alert for something to go wrong. I am all too aware of how quickly everything can change, but I cannot let this get in the way of all that is good right now. That is my challenge." -CMM

Allison's grandmother, Anna Jane Brocius

Here is a photograph of my grandma when she was young. I had never seen this one until the viewing. She looks so ethereal and is a perfect way to think of her.

"...when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I."

The Famous Cake!

I just wanted everyone to see this AMAZING cake made for me for my 26th birthday by Alison Friedman (my friends sister who just graduated from the AI and moved back up here). The flavor was humingbird and it was SO yummy!

Flying Bunnies...

Airport O'Hares

Travelers are accustomed enough to delays caused by weather and congestion. But those arriving and departing from Milan's Linate airport have been dealing with an entirely new roadblock -- madly mating hares that have reproduced so quickly and in such numbers that they have at times blocked planes from taking off and landing and even caused problems with the airport's radar systems. The rabbits are apparently an old problem at the airport, but lately the disruption has reached epic proportions. Hundreds of volunteers lined up to spook the rabbits out of their holes and into nets with whistles and much waving of arms, so that the furry menaces can be carried off to a safer and less disruptive local, Reuters reports. Over 50 were rounded up in the last hare hunt last night. Performed in the small hours during a period of light traffic, the roundup itself caused a delay of only a few hours.

Friday is here...

ok, so we only worked 2 days this week b/c we were out of town, but I feel like it has been a long week. The benefit dinner is in 2 weeks and Kevin and I have a lot more tickets we need to sell, hint hint :)

And my rant for the day is...my new favorite show and bff, Veronica Mars, is probably being cancelled. They said if it is not cancelled then next season will be set 4 years in the future with a major show overhaul. ugh. I decided I am obsessed b/c I was looking it up online and I almost wrote down the address for the tv exec you can send a "Save Veronica" postcard to. I said almost...

In other news, my office has been very slow and they want me to start working in the MD office...that's over an hour drive in rush hour...so I've decided not to take that offer and my last day here will be July 1st.

"Thanks for coming"

Hello there! Not too many new and exciting things to add to our blog today. My grandma passed away on Friday night, so it's been a rough weekend for the family. We drove to Beaver Falls, PA and went to the viewing on Monday and the Funeral on Tuesday. It was good to be with family and to tell stories and reminisce. Kevin was a good husband and served as a pallbearer and my cousin Colleen shared a few Bible verses and memories. One verse she chose was... "The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ." So be it.

On a lighter note, on Sunday we held a fundraiser at the church for our DR trip. We had a great turnout and many opened their hearts and were generous in their giving and prayers! Thanks to everyone who helped us out and to those who donated. Big thanks to Au Bon Pain who donated a ton of yummy pastries for the breakfast. Also, we had everyone make cards for each of the orphans and took polaroids of each couple who made the cards to include in them...the kids love photos :)

Our first blog!

Hi everyone! We have just created this blog to keep up with all of our out of town friends and family. Most of our friends who have blogs are pregnant or have a baby, so they have a lot to blog about and I was getting jealous :) But don't worry, we'll make sure to post a lot of pics of little bunny Francessca :)

Most currently, we are busy planning our trip back to Orfanato Ninos de Cristo in the Dominican Republic. We are leading a great team this year (ten including us) and we have been working hard at planning some great fundraisers. The big one is a benefit dinner & concert at the Marriott Tysons Corner w/amazing music by Tedd Baker & his crew. We also are getting some really cool prizes for the silent auction (I'm saving my pennies now so I can place a few bids - I think I'm over due for a day at the spa) Our trip is July 17-27, and we are getting really pumped up to see all the kids again!

In other news...all of our friends are having (or just had) babies! My cousin's new baby Gianna is SO cute! and I am completely in love with my best friend Morgan's baby Corbin Royce (that's Raven son of Roy - a little inside joke).

Right now, our future is pretty much up in the air. I didn't get into grad school this year, so we have plans to stay here at least until our lease is up in November. We figured we would hold off on most plans till we get back from our trip. If we did move we have no idea where we would go, although our friends Amy & Peyton are pushing that we follow them down to Chapel Hill :)
